Reference / Frequently asked questions

Clear up the tech talk

Ten practical answers, ordered from the measurement point to the next training conversation.

Why do my trainer and power meter disagree?

They may measure at different drivetrain locations and use different sensing, smoothing and reference procedures. Compare aligned steady sections before deciding that either device is faulty. Preserve both original files and look for a repeatable pattern. Start with the measurement guide.

Is a zero offset the same as a full calibration?

Usually not. A user-triggered zero offset commonly sets an unloaded reference; it does not independently verify accuracy against a known torque standard. Follow the exact manufacturer procedure and investigate repeated failures.

Is dual-sided power always necessary?

No. Single-sided measurement can support consistent training, but doubling one leg assumes an equal contribution. Choose with that limitation in mind, especially if comparing different systems. Balance data alone is not a diagnosis of injury or technique.

Should I use ANT+ or Bluetooth?

Use the route supported by the exact sensor and receiver that preserves the required channels and connection capacity. Neither label guarantees every feature. Check simultaneous Bluetooth connection limits and advanced channel support. Follow the complete connection.

Why does a paired sensor leave gaps in the file?

Pairing does not guarantee continuous delivery. Battery condition, contact, connection limits, radio conditions or recorder settings may interrupt a channel. Note whether one or several channels fail at once and test one change at a time.

Does a higher training score prove that I am fitter?

No. Training scores are model outputs affected by their assumptions and input data. Fitness needs context and appropriate performance evidence. Check threshold settings, missing sessions and comparable efforts before interpreting a trend. Read the analysis workflow.

Why is my heart rate higher at the same power?

Heat, hydration, fatigue, stress, illness and sensor artefacts can contribute. Review context and persistent symptoms rather than diagnosing from one file. Concerning symptoms warrant appropriate medical advice, not an adjustment based only on a chart.

Which activity file should I keep?

Keep the original recording before editing or conversion. FIT commonly preserves detailed activity channels, but verify what the specific export contains. Keep a separate edited copy and document any corrections or merges.

Should I update firmware the night before a race?

Avoid unnecessary last-minute changes. Important fixes may justify an update, but allow time to test the complete recording workflow. The same principle applies to a new sensor, battery installation or display layout. Use the race preparation checklist.

Can this website send my technical question?

No. The contact tool creates a local text preview, copies text or downloads a text file. Send it separately using your own email application. Do not include passwords, private account tokens or sensitive medical records. Prepare a technical question.
